5 Ways You Can Support Indie Authors (Without Spending Money)

Want to support your favorite indie authors? Here's a few small things you can do that make a big difference.

1. Write A Review

Reviews are incredibly important to indie authors because readers use them to decide what to read. Take a moment to write a glowing review your favorite book on Amazon, Goodreads, or Barnes & Noble. You'll not only make the author's day, but you'll be helping other readers find their book.

2. Share with Friends

Love a particular writer or book? Let your friends know by recommending it on social media or telling them in person. Word of mouth is an indie author's best friend.

3. Request the Book at Your Library

Most local libraries have a request sheet in person or online. Asking your local library to order the book will make it available to an entirely new group of readers.

4. Interact with Their Social Media

Follow your favorite authors on social media and sign up for their newsletters. When they post, send a like their way or—even better—write a quick comment. Just interacting with their content will boost their ability to reach other people, and you'll be supporting a small author.

5. Spread the Word

Have a blog? Podcast? Youtube channel? Use your platforms to post a review or talk about why you liked the book. Even if you don't have something like this, you can reach out to your favorites and ask them to review the book.
